How do you doula where you are?
The same work. Very different worlds.
A birth in Copenhagen does not happen in the same system as a birth in Budapest. Being a doula in Berlin may look completely different from being one in Bologna. Our clients, healthcare systems, professional relationships, time, backup and businesses can all be different.
And yet so many of us are trying to answer similar questions. How do you do this where you are? What works beautifully? What is difficult? What could the rest of us learn from it?
Welcome to AMAMA Coffee
A small table. Usually 6–10 doulas. Around two hours. Coffee or tea. No slides. No certificates. No need to agree.
You might have built a practice you love or still be figuring yours out. You might work alone or in a team. Come with your experience, your curiosity and your questions.

Every place develops its own ways of working. Some come from necessity, some from culture and some because one person tried something that worked. AMAMA Coffee is a place to collect those small pieces of practical wisdom and take them home.
AMAMA Coffee travels
AMAMA is based in Budapest. We are taking the table with us to meet the people doing this work, hear what works and what doesn’t, and exchange ideas that rarely cross borders. One city. One table. One conversation at a time.

Why AMAMA is doing this
We work in small teams, with backup, shared professional standards, supervision, education and community around our practice. Building AMAMA has made us curious about how other doulas build practices, protect time, create backup, make a living and stay in a profession they love. We know how we do some of these things. We don’t know how you do them. That’s why we’re travelling.
