For Families
For Partners
You are becoming a parent, too.
You are becoming a parent, too
Pregnancy naturally brings a lot of attention to the mother and the baby. Appointments. Tests. Birth plans. Feeding. Recovery.
And somewhere beside all of this, there is you. You may be excited, protective, unsure or completely overwhelmed. You don’t have to know automatically what your role will be. At AMAMA, we don’t see partners as an extra person in the birth room. You are part of the family going through this transition.
You don’t have to be the doula
“I want to support her. I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”
You don’t need to remember every breathing technique or carry responsibility for every decision. Your relationship with her is something nobody else in the room can replace. A doula can help you understand what is happening, suggest ways to support her and step in when you need a moment to rest. Our aim isn’t to take your place. It’s to help you have one.
Before, during and after birth
- 01
Before birth
What helps each of you feel safe? How do you make decisions under pressure? What if birth unfolds differently than you imagined? These conversations are part of preparation too.
- 02
In the birth room
There isn’t one correct way to be a birth partner. Your doula knows birth. You know your partner. Those two kinds of knowledge can work beautifully together.
- 03
And then you go home
Sleep, intimacy, responsibilities and conversations change. Both of you can love your baby enormously and still find this transition difficult.
How are you doing?
Partners are often asked how the baby and mother are doing. Much less often: how are you? You may be tired, worried, lonely, proud, scared or deeply in love — sometimes several of these before breakfast. We want partners to have permission to talk about that too.
Stay a couple while becoming a family
You don’t need a relationship crisis before these conversations matter. AMAMA Table is an evening for expecting couples and new parents to go out together, have tea, bring the baby and meet others. Not a parenting class. A little piece of the village.
AMAMA is here for both of you
During pregnancy. While preparing for birth. In the birth room. When you first become three. And while you figure out what being a family means for you. Because we don’t only support births. We support people becoming parents — together.
